The Dee-Oh-Oh took shape gradually over thirty-plus years. The entries take the form of aphorisms, proverbs, dicta, mottos, or maxims. They can also be puns, sketches, new words, or philosophical reflections on our existence on Earth. It is not a collection of poetry, yet the definitions often possess a poetic quality, whether through compression, juxtaposition, or conceptual surprise.

Valerie LeBlanc and Daniel H. Dugas have been collaborating since 1990 on media art, performance, and writing projects, while also pursuing their individual practices. Both have presented their individual and collaborative works internationally. They develop their projects between residencies in various locations and their studio in Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada.
